The Uprooted is about a Greek immigrant who leaves his country in search of the American dream. He travels world wide as a seaman, confronting the suspicious American policy towards foreigners of the American McCarthyism era.
It is like a new version of a modern Odyssey that lasts 20 years; he narrates the adventures and obstacles he had in different geographical places around the Globe, navigating the sea like a new Columbus trying to reach his goal to capture the American dream. It is a coming of age story.
He travels the world, mixing with people of different cultures and civilizations, a blessing that gives him a wide universal way of thinking.
